Cheapest Medicare Supplement Plans in Lansing, Michigan

Michigan Medicare Supplement plans provide the most comprehensive coverage available to people enrolled in Medicare Part A and B. The plans fill the gaps leftover by Original Medicare.

There are 10 plan options and the coverage is federally regulated. This means no matter where you are the coverage must be the same. There are three exceptions, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.

The most popular plans nationwide are Plans F, G, and N.

Many people refer to Plan F as the full coverage plan. This is because with the exception of your monthly premium you pay nothing else. Medicare pays its portion and Plan F pays yours. Plan F has a high deductible option for savvy Medicare members. Once the deductible is met the coverage begins and you will pay nothing more for the year for your health coverage.

Plan G is quickly catching on and is expected to pass Plan F as the most popular plan. With more affordable rates and only one difference in coverage, Plan G is poised to become the number one plan.

The only difference is that you are required to pay the Medicare Part B annual deductible. Once this is met there are no more out-of-pocket costs other than the monthly plan cost. Like Plan F, Plan G also has a high deductible option.

The plan that gives the most bang for your buck is Plan N. With this plan the premiums are quite a bit lower than the two mentioned above. There are a few out-of-pocket costs with Plan N such as the Part B deductible, and Copays for the doctor and emergency room.

Unlike Plans F and G, Plan N doesn’t cover excess charges. Only about 3% of doctors charge excess charges and they are easy to avoid.

PLAN A $75.38 $481.68
PLAN B $129.99 $351.67
PLAN C $143.14 $435.29
PLAN D $121.33 $511.35

PLAN HDG $37.66 $99.97
PLAN K $48.92 $134.00
PLAN L $74.17 $287.93
PLAN M $162.76 $327.00
PLAN N $86.22 $334.55

Most Affordable Medicare Part D in Lansing, Michigan

The Medigap plans do not include drug coverage in Michigan so many Medicare members need to choose a Part D prescription plan to cover their drugs. These plans are the fourth part of Medicare and are technically not required. However, if you opt not to include drug coverage you will be assessed a penalty later when you do decide to buy drug coverage,

When it comes to choosing the right drug plan the premium may not be the most important aspect. Each plan covers drugs differently and the plan with the lowest, or highest premium may not be the best for you.

As for Premiums, Aetna blows the competition out of the water with its SilverScript brand. At less than eight dollars a month there is no lower plan out there. SilverScript and Aetna are owned by CVS giving them a leg up in many ways.

Wellcare, which was recently acquired by Centene healthcare, is growing rapidly and comes in second in regard to the lowest premium. They are not only growing rapidly but have been putting time in to ensure their plans are competitive and help their members.

Clear Spring comes in with the third-lowest premium. They are fairly new and only have a 2-Star rating. We expect that as they gain more experience they will continue to increase the quality of their plans.

Aetna $7.50 $480 3
Wellcare $12.70 $480 3
Clear Spring $17.00 $480 2
Elixir $20.30 $480 3
