Medigap Scholarship Program

Medigap.com is the leading online resource for information about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare supplement (a.k.a. “Medigap”) insurance. We’ve helped thousands of senior citizens cut their health care costs by large margins over the past several years. We’ve also helped educate retirees on what to expect from Medicare, how to prepare for out-of-pocket expenses, and what they can do to protect their retirement savings from exorbitant hospital and doctor bills.

Helping senior citizens navigate the complicated waters of retirement and healthcare management is one of our main passions here at Medigap.com. But now we want to give back to another group of seniors: high school students who are about ready to embark on the journey of pursuing a higher education. In this spirit, we are pleased to announce our first ever Medigap.com Scholarship Essay Contest.

If you are in your senior year of high school and trying to secure funding for college, Medigap.com can help. All you have to do is submit a 1,500-word essay based on the following prompt:

“Senior citizens are some of the most vulnerable Americans when it comes to rising prices that exist in the health care industry today. Retirees are at a point in their lives when their health care needs are higher than they’ve ever been, but their ability to pay for this increased care is difficult on a fixed retirement income. In 1,500 words or less, explain how we as a society can come together and help senior citizens meet their health care needs in an affordable way.”

The awards for the winners will vary based on need, quality of the essay, and number of entries submitted. In addition to the financial award towards a college or university of your choice, winners will have a chance to see their essay featured on our website, alongside some worthy honorable mentions.

Helping vulnerable members of society find financial relief from unavoidable expenses is one of the cornerstones of the Medigap.com mission. Therefore, it only seems natural to extend that vision towards future college students as well. But we here at Medigap.com hope that this essay contest serves another useful purpose for young people. We hope it encourages the youth of America to look forward towards the future. Not just their future education and career, but farther beyond even that. Financial planning isn’t just for working adults. It’s never too early to think about securing your financial future. Putting yourself in the shoes of your elders can give the young people of America some valuable insight towards what their financial needs may be in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and beyond.

More about Medigap.com: We are a valuable electronic resource of information for senior citizens age 65 and older. Specifically, we help older Americans sort through the confusing nature of Medicare Parts A, B, C (Medicare Advantage), and D; we help seniors pick a Medicare plan that is right for them; and, if need be, we help them pick a Medigap (Medicare Supplement) plan. With all of the information we provide, seniors can save hundreds or even thousands off their out-of-pocket health care expenses.
